Woollen Pig 2

By Sophie Swain Stand Up For Southport

The new Woollen Pig cafe in Crossens in Southport is opening its doors for the first time this evening (Thursday 30th May 2024).

Woollen Pig 2 is a new site based at 164 Rufford Road, opposite The Arch Workspace, where building work has taken place over the past year to convert the former pharmacy.

The team aim to have their doors open at 5pm sharp tonight, offering an evening of live music, by Joe Topping, who featured on The Voice.

There will be food samples and drink offers available for everyone to celebrate.

Tonight will kickstart their opening weekend, with acts such as Enya, a solo acoustic and Dead Pony Club, an upbeat band from Liverpool, performing throughout Saturday and Sunday.

The full food menu will follow the week after and it will be posted on their social media pages.

The new venture follows the success of the original Woollen Pig Tap and Bakehouse which opened at 160 Duke Street in 2021 and provides a bar and deli in one.

Woollen Pig 2 aims to be a hub for the community, which will serve brunch, specialty barista coffee, fresh pastries, small plates and desserts.

Alongside these products will be a range of beers and ciders, with space available for a rotational local cask from Southport.

The Woollen Pig has been working in collaboration with The Arch Workspace, which has been “working flat out for over a year or so to create an amazing community space across the road from their serviced offices and The Arch Recording Studio”.

Owner, Vici Bradshaw said: “The team have been in since the crack of dawn getting the counter ready and then a quick change and on to Crossens for a spot of painting while it’s dry.

“We are all on schedule to open our new site at 5pm. Be sure to follow our stories for more behind the scenes.

“We want to thank the people of Crossens for their hospitality; all of our amazing customers, suppliers and tradespeople; and most importantly the team at The Arch Workspace for making this all possible.”
