The new Southport Bazaar shop is opening its doors this Saturday (12th October 2024) inside Wayfarers Shopping Arcade on Lord Street in Southport town centre.
It will open during a bustling weekend which also sees the monthly Craft and Gift fair taking place.
Southport Bazaar is owned by Marissa Rice, who previously ran the bazaar from the end of Southport Pier.
Memory Lane Fairs is run by Stuart Clarke and myself for all Craft and Gift Fairs
Marissa also operates Memory Lane Fairs along with Stuart Clarke. They run events around the region, including inside the arcade.
Southport Bazaar will occupy two units (28 and 30) and will offer goods sold by a number of quality independent traders from around the region.
They will include a pop-up card shop owned by Chris Newell, who previously ran the iconic Plaza Cards shop on Lord Street in Southport, and who now runs the Lily May prom and occasion wear shop in the arcade.
Marissa Rice said: “We are really looking forward to seeing everyone when we open this Saturday!
“We thought it would be perfect to combine our launch with our regular Craft and Gift Fair, which is always a busy time with lots of shoppers.
“We have got 12 local independent businesses working with us to sell goods inside Southport Bazaar offering goods such as vinyl records, gemstones and crystals, 3D printing, vintage and collectables, pre-loved items, Chris Newell’s greeting cards, textiles, bags, candles, wax melts, and more!
“We are going to be situated inside Wayfarers Shopping Arcade until the end of this year. We are hoping to carry on after that, and will see what the arcade landlords say.
“Through Memory Lane Fairs, we have run quite a few events in the arcade over the years. We love it here.
“Before that, we operated from Southport Pier, when we were called Southport Pier Bazaar. We have just had to drop the ‘Pier’ bit from our name. We all hope to see Southport Pier reopened again soon.
“This is such a beautiful shopping arcade. Everyone who comes in says how lovely it is.
“It is good to see more new businesses opening here in recent months, including ourselves, Lily May, Design By Gavriela, Ruthie Illustrations, Watchcraft, Gallery More and others.
“There’s quite a few people opening new shops, and more are coming.
“We love all the events that happen too. We’re looking forward to Victorian Day coming back, and Christmas time at Wayfarers Shopping Arcade is always magical.
“When we open, Southport Bazaar will be open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
“Come down and have a look!”
