The New Look store in Southport town centre is shutting its doors today (Friday 7th August 2026) as the company continues to close shops and focus more on online sales.
Shoppers are heading into the store on Chapel Street for the last time after many years on the high street.
A poster in-store says ‘Thanks for having us Southport. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to find us at newlook.com with 100s of new styles dropping every week’.
There have been a series of new ventures opening on Chapel Street in recent months, including the new Greggs, which opened next door to New Look in June, and Coffee House, which opened on the opposite side of the street, also in June.

The New Look stores closing programme for 2026 is part of a restructuring effort that saw the high street retailer exit the Republic of Ireland in early 2025 and continue a targeted reduction of its UK portfolio.
Over 41 sites closed in 2025 alone and that trend is continuing this year.
By March 2026, New Look had nearly halved its high street footprint from 600 stores in 2018 to 337 UK locations.
The company has emphasised that its physical stores remain a part of its omnichannel strategy alongside its app and website.
While many stores close, New Look continues to invest in its most profitable locations. The brand has been rolling out a new store concept that features modern interiors, improved lighting, and integrated digital touchpoints. These “hub” stores are designed to serve as both a physical showroom and a central point for online order returns and collections, bridging the gap between physical and digital worlds.
Online shopping now makes up about 40 per cent of total revenues, and New Look is the UK’s third-largest online women’s fashion retailer, according to the company.
