The new B&M store at Central 12 retail park in Southport is now open

The new B&M at Central 12 retail park in Southport is now open.

Shoppers called into the new store and garden centre for the first time at 8am this morning (Wednesday 16th August 2023).

The discount retailer has taken possession of the former Outfit store with a ground floor sales area of 20,009sqft. and has undergone a comprehensive internal and external refurbishment programme.

The launch of the new store has created more than 30 jobs for local people.

It could soon be followed by a 24-hour McDonald’s outlet at Central 12, with a planning application recently submitted to Sefton Council.

Customers visiting the new B&M store can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price including a range of food, drink and pet food.

There is also a large selection of health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts and plenty more to explore.

The store also boasts its own 2,834 sq ft garden centre, selling hundreds of plant varieties and gardening essentials.

The colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community.

They chose the team from Compassion Acts – Southport Food Bank charity to take centre stage and officially unveil the new B&M garden centre.

Compassion Acts – Southport Food Bank aim to combat poverty and hunger in the community, by supporting local people who are in crisis, providing three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food to those in need. In 2022, they helped local people who were experiencing crisis with over 42,000 meals. They work to give people a hand up in life, identifying the root cause of the need and either offer support with this, or refer them to other organisations who can help.

In addition to opening the store, the team will also receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers, which will go towards helping the charity to continue doing the great work they do.

Store manager Graham Carr said: “It was really exciting to welcome customers through the doors; the feedback so far has been fantastic.

“A big thank you to the team at Compassion Acts who helped us open the store, we hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do.”
