Spennymoor Town 5 Southport FC 1

A night that started so brightly ended in a very disappointing 5-1 defeat at Spennymoor.

Playing some good football early on and taking a deserved 10th minute lead through a Declan Evans penalty after Marcus Carver was fouled in the box there was little sign of what was to come.

The lead lasted just 8 minutes before Ramshaw equalised and it was pretty much one way traffic from then on.

Goals followed in the 24th minute through Glen Taylor and Will Harris put the home side 3-1 up on 30 minutes.

Chris Renshaw kept the score at 3-1 with some fine saves before Ramshaw grabbed his second of the night and Taylor matched his fete with his second in added time.

Thank you to everyone who made the long Tuesday night trip to Spennymoor on a night to forget for The Sandgrounders.

Line Up : Renshaw, Thomson, Doyle, Flowers, Evans, Sass, Watson, Bainbridge (F Heath), Carver ( C Heath), Quansah, Walton.

Attendance 1091 with officially 19 travelling fans but there were a few more than that that we could see.
