Much-needed new family homes have transformed a sought-after site in Birkdale in Southport.

The properties built at Upper Aughton Road, Clarence Road and Everton Road, on the location of the former Blundell Arms pub, have proved to be so popular that most have already been sold. Just two remain on sale with Bailey Estates.

Known as ‘The Blundell’, the development has been created by local firm Broadley Developments.

The small family-owned house-building Southport-based business enjoys a reputation for quality, design and value for money.

Broadley Developments has created nine modern three and four bedroom detached and semi-detached homes all within a short walk of Birkdale Village.

They provide a contemporary style of living with open-plan kitchen / dining and family areas, modern fitted kitchens, bathrooms and flooring.

With five house types available, the scheme has been able offer a design to suit different families’ needs.

With energy performance in mind, all of the nine homes have been fitted with air source heat pumps providing full house heating with underfloor heating to all ground floors.

Director Paul Halsall said: “The local residents in the area are absolutely delighted.

“The former pub had suffered from fire damage and had become an eyesore after being closed for many months.

“These smart new homes have really elevated the area and made it look much more attractive.

“This part of Birkdale now looks a lot better than it did 12 months ago. We are really proud of what we have achieved.

“The response from buyers has been fantastic. Seven of the homes have sold already, with just a couple left. They have been really popular, and it is easy to see why.

“They couldn’t be in a better location. They are just six minutes’ walk from Birkdale Village on one side, and not too far from Southport town centre on the other side.

“All of the homes are freehold.”

As someone who is Southport born and bred, Paul is excited about the town’s future, with lots in the pipeline for people to look forward to.

It makes Southport the perfect place to buy a new home.

He said: “Converting Southport Market into a new food, drink and events venue recently has been a great success. It is a great place for families to take the kids and my 4 children love the  variety, one can go and get sushi, another can go and get pizza, another pasta.

“It is always really busy in there!

“I am excited to see what is going to happen at the former Garrick Theatre building on Lord Street, that will be really good for Southport when it happens. Two new local businesses have opened there recently. I’m a regular at Raw which is all healthy foods & smoothies and Raw is attached to the PWR Boxing studio so there are lots of good things happening in this town.”
