NHS heroes from Southport and Ormskirk hospitals were honoured at a special awards ceremony.

Individuals and teams from a wide range of areas were celebrated for their “amazing commitment’’ to providing the best possible care for local patients and their families at the hospitals’ Time to Shine Awards held at Formby Golf Resort and Spa.

It was hosted by Liverpool radio personality Peter Price while sponsors included Vinci Facilities, Hill Dickinson and Weightmans.

The event was opened by Chief Executive, Ann Marr OBE, who praised staff for their efforts. She said:

“The NHS continues to face challenges that test the resilience of all our staff but what never fails to impress me is how everyone faces those challenges head on.

“Everyone has maintained a positive attitude and looked for solutions and to do this while continuing to care for patients in a kind and friendly manner is something everyone should be really proud of.
