The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards will once again be raising funds for ICU Steps, the intensive care patient support charity, when the event takes place at The Grand in Southport this Friday (24th April 2026).
Supporting the charity is The Grand owner Andrew Mikhail’s way of saying thank you to the charity and to the NHS for saving his life.
At the awards, there will be a game of ‘Heads and Tails’, with envelopes on the table and £10 for anyone who would like to enter.
Prizes on offer for the winners include an overnight stay, bed and breakfast at The Lord Street Hotel; a meal at The Grand; a party night at The Grand; or 4 tickets to Flavours Of Soul.
There will be an auction and a silent auction, with some superb items people can bid for.
Andrew Mikhail, Chairman of the Mikhail Hotel And Leisure Group, has raised tens of thousands of pounds for ICU Steps through his annual ICU Steps fundraising nights held in 2023, 2024 and 2025, along with his Las Vegas Casino Charity Night Party in February this year.
The annual Pride Of Sefton Awards has always raised funds for ICU Steps too, while last year, money raised was shared between ICU Steps and The Southport Together Appeal.
ICU Steps is run by former intensive care patients and relatives to support people and relatives who experience intensive care, helping towards their recovery and helping them to come to terms with surviving critical illness.
In 2022, following a cardiac arrest, Andrew Mikhail’s heart stopped for 17 minutes while battling a severe Covid infection before determined NHS staff brought him back to life.
ICU Steps helped Andrew and his family following his near death experience and his long recuperation afterwards, and he has been determined to do all he can to support them ever since.
Andrew Mikhail said: “The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards is always a very special night where we enjoy celebrating some incredible people who make our community what it is.
“The Awards is also a time where we aim to raise some much-needed funds for ICU Steps in recognition of all they did for me and my family and for so many other families during the Covid pandemic and in the years since.”
The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards are organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport in association with media partners In Demand Radio with support from Southport BID.
There are 13 categories including Child of Courage, School Of The Year, Community Impact, Charity Champion and more, plus the Main Award.
All those on the shortlist at this unmissable night in the Liverpool City Region events calendar will enjoy a special celebratory meal in beautiful surroundings while the awards are presented, with a night of superb entertainment planned.
