The Grand Opening details have been revealed for Southport’s first ever pottery painting and pizza parlour.
Clay & Crust is due to open at 3-5 Stanley Street, Southport town centre PR9 0BY from midday on Tuesday 2nd June 2026.
A substantial transformation has been taking place in recent weeks to convert the former Fuego’s Mexican restaurant into this exciting new family-friendly venue.
Clay & Crust will offer families and people of all ages the opportunity to call in and paint pottery while enjoying something delicious to eat or drink.
They will also be offering pottery parties, dropping pottery off at people’s homes where children (or adults) can paint away before taking them back into the venue to be fired and completed.
The vision for Clay & Crust is being led by Joe Bolger, who has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry at venues across the North West including in Manchester and the Lake District.
He was born in Southport and is delighted to be bringing something very different to the town for people to enjoy.
Joe said: “The doors to Clay & Crust officially open on Tuesday 2nd June at 12pm and we honestly can’t wait to welcome you all into our pizza + pottery space!
“Think pottery painting, fresh pizza, cosy vibes, good music, drinks flowing and making memories with your favourite people.
“Our online booking system officially goes live this Wednesday, but until then we’re taking manual bookings via DM!
“If you’d like to reserve a table for opening week, just send us a message via our Clay & Crust Instagram page Instagram with:
• Name
• Group size
• Preferred date & time
“Our opening hours will be:
Monday: Closed
Tuesday-Saturday: 12pm-9pm
Sunday: 12pm-6pmPM
“We’ve poured so much love into creating this space and we’re SO excited to finally share it with you.”
Speaking to Stand Up For Southport in April, Joe shared his vision for the new venue.
He said: “I’m really confident Clay & Crust will do very well in Southport! It’s going to be very family friendly. We’ll have a team of five or six people here.
“It’s something very new, and we’ve had great feedback from everyone we’ve spoken to; including people who’ve called into the site to ask us what we’re working on!
“Fuego’s was such an iconic Southport restaurant, it was here for 25 years.
“We wanted to come in and transform the building and create something exciting where people can come in, and enjoy great experiences.
“It’s suitable for people of all ages. Who doesn’t love painting pottery?
“You can come in as a family; as a group of friends; or even on a date night, as we’ll be open into the evenings too.
“Rather than create pottery and then head out to find somewhere else to go and eat or grab a drink, you can do it all here.
“You’ll be able to sit and order some delicious pizza, small plates, antipasti and more, plus hot and cold drinks.
“You can then take home whatever pottery you’ve created, as a happy memory of great times spent together.
“Whenever you look at your pottery, hopefully it’ll remind you to come back and enjoy it again!”
