Acclaimed broadcaster Fraser Dainton is looking forward to celebrating community heroes from across our area as he hosts the 2026 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.
This year’s glittering event takes place at The Grand in Southport this Friday (24th April 2026) with people due to be honoured across 13 categories during an emotional, inspiring and uplifting evening.
Fraser Dainton was on stage alongside In Demand Radio presenter Claire Simmo from In Demand Radio last year but will be hosting the awards solo this time due to Claire’s work commitments elsewhere.
The former Sky Sports News presenter is a highly experienced broadcaster who has worked in media for over 25 years on TV, radio and digital output.
He was a familiar face on Sky Sports News between 2003 and 2021,where he enjoyed live TV reporting on major events and breaking news stories at home and abroad.
Fraser Dainton said: “Last year’s Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards was a particularly emotional event for all concerned.
“I thought everyone involved handled the evening with incredible strength and dignity.
“It really shone through just how close and supportive Sefton, and Southport in particular, have been as communities.
“That is something hugely positive for everyone who lives in the borough, hearing so many stories of people doing remarkable things to support and improve lives for others.
“I thoroughly enjoy hosting the Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards and other events like this.
“It’s so important to celebrate the very special community heroes that we have.
“People are always very welcoming whenever I’m in Southport and I’m very much looking forward to the evening and seeing everyone there.”
The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards are organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport in association with media partners In Demand Radio and supported by Southport BID.
There are 13 categories including Child of Courage, School Of The Year, Community Impact, Charity Champion and more, plus the Main Award.
All those on the shortlist at this unmissable night in the Liverpool City Region events calendar will enjoy a special celebratory meal in beautiful surroundings while the awards are presented, with a night of superb entertainment planned.
