A landmark Southport hotel next to the town’s biggest redevelopment site has now gone on sale with Christie & Co.
The Waterfront Hotel, formerly Bliss Hotel, is now available after a potential sale fell through.
The venue, which enjoys stunning views across the Marine Lake, is situated next to the former Southport Theatre and Convention Centre.
Work is currently taking place to create the new Marine Lake Events Centre in addition to the Light Fantastic water and light show on the lake.
The ambitious £73 million project is the central theme of the Southport Town Deal regeneration project.
It is forecast to attract an additional 515,000 visitors every year and generate an annual £18 million for the local economy.
The luxury four star Waterfront Hotel was placed into administration last year, but has continued to trade.
The hotel includes 131 bedrooms and penthouses, a lounge bar, restaurant, roof garden, gym, conferencing and events space, as well as secure underground car parking for 120 cars.
The sale includes the vacant building next to the hotel.
The previous owners had revealed ambitions to create an exciting new development on the land which would have included a new hotel, a residential tower, a European style plaza, new shops, and winter gardens.

In their description of the site, Christie & Co said:
“The Waterfront Southport Hotel provides a prime opportunity to acquire a hotel unencumbered by brand and management located in a well -known seaside town.
“Purpose built in 2008, this full service hotel provides 131 bedrooms and an adjacent leisure wing.
“In 2019/2020, the hotel received significant capital investment of c. £2,500,000.
“The refurbishment included the reception area, lounge, bar/restaurant, large function suite and two floors of hotel bedrooms (fourth and fifth floor) including the hotel corridors (65 bedrooms in total).

“The adjacent building is arranged over ground and two upper floors and comprises four ground floor commercial units which are currently vacant.
“The property extends to c.40,000 sq ft and is suitable for redevelopment – subject to the necessary planning consents.
“Southport is a popular seaside town in the North West of England. It is situated on the Irish Sea coast and is a gateway to the coast and the Ribble Estuary. Formby and Preston are located approximately 8.3 miles and 18.8 miles away.
