Southport schools are to benefit from a national multi-million-pound Government funding boost.

Following a rigorous assessment process, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has announced almost £483 million for 1,466 projects at academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools across the country.

In Southport, Kew Woods Primary School, Churchtown Primary School, Stanley High School and Greenbank High School are set to receive money from the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).

The aim of CIF is to keep eligible academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided school buildings safe and in good working order.

Welcoming the funding, Southport MP Damien Moore said: “I am very pleased that schools across Southport are going to receive funding to make further improvements to school buildings.

“This funding will ensure that pupils have access to the best facilities and classrooms, enabling them to gain knowledge and fulfil their aspirations.

“Through this funding, the Government has shown its commitment to levelling up schools in the north of the country and providing the right environment for children to succeed.”
