Volunteers at The Free Clothes Store in Southport

A brand new Clothes Bank is coming to Southport, to help those in need – and they need your help!

The vital facility, called The Free Clothes Store, will be based at Lakeside Church, on the corner of the Promenade and Fairway in Southport.

Organisers of the appeal say that “clothing is an expensive necessity for many individuals and families” at this time, with some families having to choose between clean, quality clothes, food and heating.

They want to see our town coming together to ensure that those who most need our help can enjoy all the support they need.

Georgie Vernon from Lakeside Church in Southport said: “Can you help?

“We are looking to establish a clothes bank here at Lakeside Church and, although still in the planning stages, we would love for you to give us a follow on Facebook and Instagram as we progress on our journey to opening, and help in any way you can to help those in need of help in our town.

“Clothing is an expensive necessity for many individuals and families, and just because people may find themselves in a difficult time of crisis doesn’t mean they should not be able to wear good quality, clean clothes. But so often, finances can be stretched in so many directions that families are having to go without.

“Often having to choose between keeping warm, eating or providing other essentials for the family. Especially now, when things are getting squeezed even tighter as prices for every day essentials are on the rise.

“We all have things we no longer wear that we once loved.  Let’s come together to help others that may find themselves in crisis at the moment.

“If you can help with donating clothing rails or clean, excellent quality clothing, or if you are in need of help or know of someone who could benefit from our help when we launch, please email us at clothes@lakesidechurch.uk

“You can also donate clothing at Lakeside Church reception on Tuesdays to Fridays between 9-4pm. Thank you so much.

“Together, we can make a difference.”
