The first cohort of Southport College’s AI and Emerging Technology Course for adults have had a really rewarding time on the course.
They were introduced to eight different topics and discovered lots of ways to introduce AI into their current workload.
They also spent time with the college’s T Level Digital Production, Coding and Web Development students who demonstrated some exciting new technologies, bridging the gap between experienced professionals in an array of industries with those on the cutting edge of learning about new and emerging software and technology.
Mike Danher from Kaleidoscope Marketing Agency said: “In a very short amount of time, I learned how to prompt Chat GPT to analyse our company’s entire online presence and create a well-structured, targeted marketing strategy to improve our reach. This was just one quick example to show the capabilities of AI but it really is amazing that with just one well-written prompt, you can save a serious amount of time.”
Lynne Wagstaffe from Premier Accountants was impressed by the AI that’s now being embedded into online graphic design software that’s used to create social media and website content. “I’ve been introduced to Craiyon and am amazed that from just a few lines of text, I could generate an image of whatever I wanted and the more you add to the prompt, the more specific you can be.”
Paula Ankiel from Plutus Plus has really enjoyed the course too. She said: “Trying out the VR and AR headsets has been my favourite part. Over the 2 days we really have covered so much, including how to use AI apps like Chat GPT, Canva and Craiyon, I’m definitely going to find these new skills really useful going forward.”
The two day course will be repeated on various dates between now and the end of March 2025. It is free of charge for any employee of an SME in the Liverpool City Region and is suitable for anyone with an interest in discovering more about AI, irrespective of their job role.
