The first ever Salt and Tar Big Comedy Weekender takes place in Bootle this Spring Bank Holiday Weekend, 26th to 28th May 2023.
It all takes place under canvas in a heated and seated luxury marquee at Salt and Tar, a dynamic new canalside event space in Bootle, Merseyside.
Big Comedy UK the people behind the annual Southport Comedy Festival have rounded up the biggest names in comedy for the three-day laughter event featuring stars from Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You.
Liverpool’s very own comedian and TV star Chris McCausland headlines the opening gala night of the festival alongside award winning comedians Nina Gilligan and Patrick Monahan.
King of Live Comedy Irish funnyman Jason Byrne headlines the Sunday night show alongside TV comedians Scott Bennett and Jo Caulfield with Bren Riley hosting both events.
Jason’s shows are the fastest selling shows at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival.
He is a household name in Ireland with lots of TV credits to his name to include Judge on Ireland’s Got Talent. His live comedy is not to be missed.
There will also be Family Fun days with comedy bingo and children’s comedy shows from Britain’s Got Talent finalist Steve Royle and circuit legend Martin Bigpig Mor.
Bingo Nights UK will be bringing their hugely popular Disco Bingo event to the weekender where you can win fantastic prizes and dance the night away while raising money for charity.
Brendan Riley from Big Comedy UK said: “Word is really spreading now about the first ever Salt and Tar Comedy Weekender in Bootle!
“Lots of people have been asking us about it;,who is appearing, and what the venue is like, which is a great sign.
“All the shows will be performed inside a luxury heated marquee with lots of seating and great facilities at the new Salt and Tar venue.
“It is right next to Bootle Strand shopping centre, which is really accessible for anyone travelling via Merseyrail trains or via bus. It’s just a 10 minute hop away from Liverpool city centre and close to places like Crosby, Formby and Southport too.
“It is a superb urban space, something completely different, which will be hosting a lot more events in the future.
“This is the first Salt and Tar Big Comedy Weekender and we are really excited to be bringing some of the best names in UK comedy to Bootle.
