A leading Southport-based electrical firm is enjoying a busy school Summer holiday – by carrying out a substantial electrical refurbishment and upgrade at a high school in Liverpool.
Ben Carter Electrical Contracting Ltd is carrying out the 20-week project at Maghull High School.
On a project where they are, once again, the principal contractor, they are carrying out works to the O’Kane Building and CDT Block including: full electrical design and build; new distribution infrastructure; containment systems and cabling; new lighting scheme; new power circuits; new heating system; new data and telephone communications installation; and new suspended ceiling grids and tiles.
They are also working with their sister company ASG Integrated Systems Ltd to instal: new fire alarms and new intruder alarms to both buildings.
Ben Carter Electrical Contracting Ltd and ASG Integrated Systems Ltd work closely together on a range of projects, after moving into brand new premises on Old Park Lane in Southport earlier this year.
Over the past few months the firms have been busy providing the spark behind everything from new hotels to football clubs, schools, and city halls – and they have even played their part in getting an NHS Nightingale Hospital up and running.
The partnerships means they can now offer “the full package” on a variety of design and build projects as they specialise in all aspects of domestic, commercial and industrial electrical work, fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV installation, as well as maintenance work. Their combination of decades of experience with a modern, professional approach has led to their rapid success.

While thousands of other firms downed tools during the Coronavirus lockdown, they used their time to refurbish their new premises as well as being called on for their expert help for the brand new NHS Deeside Nightingale Hospital, in Deeside which was built in rapid time.
Director Ben Carter said: “We have taken on two CAD designers and have installed CAD printers and CAD software so we can reach out into the design element of the job.
“We now work on design and build projects, working alongside consultants and developers. We can do the full electrical design package. We also have an in-house health and safety officer so that we can ensure that all of our risk assessments are site specific. All angles are covered now.
“We are an NICEIC Approved Contractor along with additional accreditations and members of prestigious bodies such as Chas, Constructionline, ECA, Electrotechnical Certification Scheme and OLEV.
“We went from having one van in 2013 to having nine vehicles on the road, which just shows how much our company has grown and developed.
“Working with ASG as well means we can also provide fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV systems. We are also working on electric vehicles (EV) charge points, a growing new part of our business.
