After the success of facilitating the launch of the Sopodio podcast studio earlier in the summer, Southport and Sefton Council’s developing Eastbank digital business centre is now welcoming as its newest tenant Crosby Coffee.
Vinyls have appeared in the ground floor windows of the building on Eastbank Street in Southport town centre as work takes place inside to get the new venture ready.
The space was previously occupied by the Gallary Grill restaurant.
This ground floor offer, integrated and directly linked through to the wider Eastbank site, will provide a place for residents, visiting businesses and the wider community to connect and collaborate to do business.
Once inside people can also relax, refresh and recharge.
The Eastbank Crosby Coffee offer will benefit from LCR ultrafast broadband providing the perfect alternative work environment alongside that regular relaxing coffee stop to catch up and connect.
The £1.5 million Eastbank enterprise arcade opened last year as one of the schemes funded through the Southport Town Deal.
The building overlooks Southport Market Quarter, where the £6.25 million public realm improvement scheme was completed at the end of last year.
The 8,000sq ft Eastbank building provides high-quality workspace and modern amenities for entrepreneurs and start-up businesses in the digital and creative sectors.
It aims to become a central hub for these businesses, providing a strong foundation to grow this vital sector of Sefton’s economy while creating new jobs, developing skills, and opening opportunities for the local community.
SoPodio has since opened a high-end podcast studio in the building, while Hatters Digital Marketing Agency moved in last year as the first tenant.
Crosby Coffee is the latest tenant preparing to move in, activating the ground floor.
The firm has submitted a planning application to Sefton Council so it can install signage to the front of the building, along with a non-illuminated projecting hanging wall sign.
Crosby Coffee started in 2014 as founder Jack Foster’s pursuit of better coffee for the North West, inspired by the vibrant London coffee scene, moved into its first home on Bridge Road Industrial Estate in Litherland.
Jack began roasting coffee at home, experimenting with American home roasters, sharing bags with friends and family, and selling at local markets under the Crosby Coffee name, a tribute to his hometown.
What started as a small passion project quickly grew into one of Liverpool’s most exciting independent coffee roasters when Mark Slinger joined forces in 2016 to steer the growth and financial direction of the company forward.
Now co-owned by Jack and Mark, the firm ensures that every bean is roasted in-house at their Ten Streets Roastery in Liverpool.
The Enterprise Arcade complements other major Town Deal regeneration initiatives in Southport.
These include the development of the £106 million Marine Lake Events Centre, and the £1.5 million transformation of Southport Market into a busy food, drink and events space.
