Cinderella launch sees Southport cake maker produce special order for Claire Sweeney and cast

A talented young cake maker from Southport was delighted to meet Claire Sweeney and the cast of Cinderella after presenting a specially themed cake and cupcakes for them. 

Lauren Wickham, owner of The Cake Box, was honoured to be invited to create the unique order for the official launch of this year’s Cinderella pantomime by LHK Productions. 

The launch took place at The Atkinson on Lord Street in Southport, where cast members spoke about their roles and performed songs from the forthcoming show. 

Lauren was invited on stage for pictures with Claire and fellow cast members while her cake and cupcakes wowed VIP guests at the launch.

Lauren said: “I really enjoyed making the cake and cupcakes for the press launch of Cinderella.!

“Thank you to Helen Goodwin and Lee Kelly and The Atkinson for having me.

“It was a great press launch. I really enjoyed watching Cinderella (Mia Molloy) and The Fairy GodMother (Claire Sweeney) sing. 

“I can’t wait to watch the actual pantomime now! I hope everyone enjoyed the cakes.

“I am now getting ready for Halloween, as I’m doing Halloween Cupcakes Boxes and Treat Boxes.” 

Lauren opened her brand new business, The Cake Box, at 22 Market Street in Southport in September. 

She is the latest local independent business owner to move into the growing Market Quarter area of the town centre after the official opening of the new look Southport Market this summer.

The Market has been transformed into a new food, drink and events attraction following a £1.4million transformation led by Sefton Council.

Since the market opened, the existing businesses in the area have been joined by exciting new local independent ventures moving into previously empty units including: The Cake Box; Season Coffee, Bar and Kitchen; Urban Attic; and Ewa’s Sewing Room.
