Churchtown Christmas Lights Switch On 2022: Here’s what’s on and when

Churchtown Village in Southport will host its Christmas Lights Switch on this Sunday (27th November 2022). 

The event, hosted by Sandgrounder Radio, takes place on and around Botanic Road between 2pm and 8pm and will include a short fireworks display. 

The Christmas Lights will be officially switched on at 5pm. 

Visitors can enjoy: Santa’s Grotto; an Elf Hunt; local food and drink; stalls and Christmas shopping; live performances; a Christmas choir; funfair rides; raffle; face painting; crafts; and more. 

An event spokesperson said: “We’re excited to welcome you from near and far to celebrate the start of the Christmas Season!

“To mark the Tree switch on at 5pm there will be a short 45 – 60 second firework display. This will be the only time slot that fireworks will be used at the Churchtown Christmas Light Switch On.”

The Christmas tree has been donated to the Village by J A Jones & Sons. 

There will be a performance area outside Checkers of Churchtown. 

From 2pm, it will host: BabyBallet; DBA School of Dance; N.S. Ballroom. 

From 4pm, Soul DecLaration 

6pm, The Atkinson Wellbeing Choir 

6.45pm – Hayley Murray. 

Next to the Christmas Tree, outside St Cuthbert’s Church, there will be: 

4.30pm, Off Key Choir

5pm, Christmas Lights Switch On with Churchtown Primary School Choir. 

Outside Lucy Lou’s Boutique: 

3pm, the Off Key Choir. 

Vintage Tea Room will be serving mulled wine, mince pies, cookies, cakes, hot dogs and children’s take away lunch boxes all from outside at the front of the tearoom. Bookings are also available inside.

Santa’s Grotto takes place at Bump of Churchtown, £10 per child includes a photo opportunity and a gift.
