People are being invited to put on their best festive fancy dress or Christmas jumpers for a Zoom Comedy Bingo night to help a young Southport schoolboy undergoing treatment for cancer.
The special virtual festive night out will take place on Tuesday 29 December from 7pm in aid of Lewis Wright.
The brave 12-year-old, a pupil at Birkdale High School, is described as “Mr Positive” as he undergoes regular rounds of chemotherapy as he battles leukaemia.
While his friends at Birkdale High School are looking forward to their Christmas holidays, Lewis has been undergoing gruelling chemotherapy treatment at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
The Zoom Comedy Bingo night on 29 December aims to raise enough money to help Lewis to fulfil his dreams to sleep with lions!
Tickets are just £10 each per adult, children free, with the evening sponsored by Anthony James Estate Agents in Southport.
The Zoom Comedy Bingo night will be hosted by local comedian Brendan Riley.
He said: “We are delighted to be able to organise this virtual comedy bingo night to raise money for Lewis. Every single penny we get through the event will be going to him directly.
“I would like to thank Mark Cunningham from Anthony James Estate Agents in Southport for sponsoring this event.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun. Fancy dress or Christmas jumpers are compulsory!
“We want to see Southport get behind Lewis and join us on the night. It is only when you see someone like Lewis having to go what he’s going through that you realise how fortunate you are. I think he’s just fantastic.

“We have run some really successful Comedy Bingo nights via Zoom this year. They are a great way of friends or family connecting with each other without having to leave home.
“So what better time to do this fundraiser than between Christmas and New Year.
“We are really looking forward to this one.”
Louise McHugh said: “Lewis has been going through some very gruelling treatment at Alder Hey this year. No child deserves this. He is our Mr Positive, he’s the strongest kid I know.
“He would love to sleep with lions, so we are trying to organise a weekend in a lodge in Kent where he will be sleeping with lions.
“I would like to thank everybody for their support and generosity.
“It means so much, it’s been overwhelming.”
