The Cake Corner shop in Hillside in Southport is closing its doors on Bank Holiday Monday (31st August 2026), with everyone invited to join the team for a party as they say goodbye.
The shop, at 5 Liverpool Road, opposite The Crown pub, has delighted people since owner Leanne Prescott brought along freshly baked cakes, cookies and sweet treats to the area five years ago.
The good news is that families can still enjoy their Cake Corner fix as the busy Cake Corner outlet inside Southport Market remains open, while they are still taking their eye-catching pink trailer to major regional events such as Southport Flower Show, Southport Food and Drink Festival and others.
You will also find Cake Corner at the S&Beer Festival this August Bank Holiday Weekend.
Leanne Prescott said:
“Wow, what an incredible five years our gorgeous shop has given us. I love this shop and my girls
“It’s with a heavy heart that we’re announcing that our shop will be closing on Monday 31st August 2026.
“Just to be clear, our market stall in Southport Market, plus occasion cake and bakery will continue to run as normal!! We’re simply closing our very first shop location.

“Thank you so much for all the love and support on our previous post about the shop closing.
“The community we’ve built over the last five years means the absolute world to us.
“I won’t go into too much detail, but I’m trying to see this decision in a positive light.
“Since opening in 2021, Cake Corner has grown more than I ever imagined. I’ve learned so much along the way, and although deciding to close the shop has been incredibly difficult. I truly believe it’s the right decision for the long-term future of my business.
“Thank you to every single one of our amazing regular customers. Your support over the last five years has meant everything to us and we genuinely couldn’t have done it without you.
“A huge thank you also goes to our incredible team, both past and present. You’ve made the shop such a happy, welcoming place, and watching our little team grow into what it is today has been so special.
“A special mention has to go to Alex, who has been with us since day one. She’ll be leaving us soon, but she of course deserves her own post, which will be coming very soon… I genuinely couldn’t have done it without you.
“We’ll be hosting a closing party at the shop on Monday 31st August come and celebrate with us and say goodbye to the place where it all began.
“This is by no means the end of Cake Corner. We’re still excited about the future and are looking forward to growing and improving the business in new ways. Our trailer has already been a huge step in the right direction.
“Please pop in this week for your last sweet treat fix!
“Don’t worry you will of course still be able to come and see us at Southport Market, we are hoping to do as many events as possible In our new pink trailer around the country and you can of course order through our website
“Occasion cakes are also still available to be pre-order! Dm us or email us on [email protected]
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey. We’re so grateful for every customer, every conversation, every order, and every memory we’ve made in our little shop.
