Families will be able to enjoy a huge amount of fun when the Botanic Gardens Family Fun Day takes place this summer.
The free event will be held at the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown in Southport on Sunday, 19th June, between 10am and 4pm. It is sponsored by Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery.
Among the highlights on the day will be the official unveiling of the brand new Botanic Gardens mural, by local artist Robert Newbiggin.
The Fun Day is being organised by the Make A Change For Botanic group, which has raised over £28,000 towards making vital safety improvements in the historic park.
Changes that local residents will soon be able to see include water aeration fountains in the lake, to make it safer and cleaner.
There will be several stalls on display, with anyone interested in taking a stall on the day invited to get in touch.
Families will be able to enjoy entertainment from the likes of Babyballet, Funky Monkeys, Yooks, Southport Stompers, The Wigan Youth Brass Band, a petting zoo and turtle talks.
Children will be thrilled to enjoy bubbles galore thanks to a bubbleologist!
Ray Bubbles will be at the event with a stall and a day full of bubble making, and interactive bubble displays.
A number of local businesses and charities have already signed up to take stalls, including: Woodlands Animal Sanctuary, Vintage Collectables, Marshside Fog Bell, Sunseekers Kids Books, Body Shop, Forever Melts and Jewellery and more.
The Settle Inn, based in the Botanic Gardens, will be setting up a BBQ.
Merseyside Police will be on site with a police van for the kids to see and explore.
Izorbs will be there with several inflatable slides and rides and of zorbs.
Children will be able to enjoy all the fun of the fair with a number of small funfair rides.
Children will also be able to enjoy donkey rides.
Botanic Gardens Family Fun Day co-organiser Jess Thwaites said: “We now have inflatable rides and slides and zorbs from the fabulous martin at iZorb.
“What we still need is some sort of craft tent / interactive sports day / dancing and games.
“If anyone who does any of those things would like to get involved, please get in touch.
“We also have our last five stalls remaining.
“We have Fancy Faces Southport and Debbie Lyn coming along offering face painting.
“We have Eden Tinsley bringing along her incredible fairy wings at Eden Events
“Joe Hilton from BeastWatch UK is bringing along some ferrets, skunks and turtles for the kids to hold, learn about and stroke.
“I wish we didn’t have to wait until June to show you all our ideas come together but it’s set to be a fantastic day.”
Local radio stations Mighty Radio and Sandgrounder Radio will be broadcasting live from the event.
Anyone keen to take up one of the stalls is invited to get in touch.
Jess Thwaites said: “We have multiple stalls sold to some amazing local businesses. There are now limited stalls available. Please contact me if you are interested.
“We really want this to be an opportunity to celebrate local small business and local charity causes.
“We are looking for a variety of stall holders from local small businesses looking to offer their own unique products.
“We cannot have stalls selling food produce that is available from The Settle Inn. Only food products not available on site already can be sold. Please contact me if you aren’t sure, happy to clarify.
“Any stall holders must bring their own tables, gazebos, stands etc. We are not able to provide anything to assist with this regardless of the weather on the day.
“A donation of £40 to the Botanic Gardens Community Association would be appreciated from any stalls attending in order to support the event.
“All stall holders will need to contact me please, preferably via Messenger or Facebook until nearer the time. Alternatively call 07894497672.
“If you think you’d like to come along to what is set to be a magical event with plenty to offer the entire family and promote your local small business we cannot wait to hear from you.”
