A popular pop-up dessert bar is back at Southport Market this weekend – with a delicious new dish.

Bar Crumble first arrived at the venue in February, and enjoyed rave reviews from diners.

Owners Banico and Jodie Zeniou, who opened their popular Pitamu Greek street food stall inside Southport Market in July 2021, are behind the new venture.

They are delighted to return this Friday (12pm -9pm), Saturday (12pm-9pm) and Sunday (12pm-5.15pm).

Jodie Zeniou said: “We are looking forward to bringing Bar Crumble back to the pop-up space at Southport Market this Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

“It should be a busy weekend with the Spiritual and Holistic Fayre taking place in the Extravaganza Space this Saturday and Sunday too.

“We are planning to provide a different special each time we open. This time we will be offering our new Banoffee Crumble!

“This will be apple crumble with banana, cream or custard, and toffee.

“It’s perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth!

“We will also be doing a gluten free option for customers.

“It went really well when we held our first Bar Crumble pop-up event in February.

“We had lots of really good feedback from the people who tried it.

“Lots of people came in to try the crumble but also then visited other food units in the market, so other places benefit too which is good. We all need Southport Market to be busy!

“We are planning to return again over Easter, and are also looking to take Bar Crumble to food festivals and food markets.”

The Bar Crumble name is a play on the ‘Bah Humbug’ phrase with all the dishes having fun, grumpy sounding names with lots to delight people of all ages.

There are a range of choices of offer, including ‘The Boring Classic’ (sweet apple, crumble and custard topped with shortbread biscuit); ‘The Creme Bru-Late’ (mixed berry fruit, crumble, custard and cracking sugar topping); ‘The Moody Pink Lady’ (sweet apple, crumble, pink and white fresh whipped cream, finished with rose petals and gold dust); and ‘I Hate Chocolate’ (mixed berry fruit, crumble, Nutella and whipped cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce and chocolate curls).

For children, in a smaller tub, there is ‘The Irritating Bambino’ (crumble, custard and one topping) with a choice of toppings including: chocolate curls, crushed meringue, crushed hazelnuts, almond flakes, crushed chocolate Oreos, mini fudge pieces and Lotus crushed biscuit.

Jodie said: “Banico and I opened this venture because we both love crumble!

“It is also a very popular, traditional British pudding, and we thought people would really enjoy it.

“Our customers so far are particularly loving our traditional apple crumble with custard, and our chocolate themed one.

“We have also created a smaller crumble with custard without fruit for young children to enjoy.”
