A Charity care provider with services around the region has been rated outstanding by The Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Autism Initiatives, a charity care provider based in Sefton was awarded the top rating by the government inspection agency.
Autism Initiatives was founded in Southport in 1972 and provides a broad range of specialist services for young people and adults with autism or a learning disability across the region focussing on personalised support that improves their quality of life.
The provider operates A Great Little Place cafe at The Atkinson in Southport; MeCycle in Ainsdale Village; and WeGrowCo in Churchtown.
The CQC rated adult supported living and outreach services from Liverpool, Sefton and Blackpool as outstanding with 200 people supported at the time of the inspection.
Andrew Peck, CQC deputy director of operations in the north-west, said:
“Leaders and staff should be very proud of the findings in this report. It’s clear the service was committed to treating people as individuals and empowering them to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives. Other services should look to this report to see if there’s anything to learn from it.”
During the inspection the CQC found that:
· People were supported by staff who knew them well, understood their needs and considered their wishes, goals and preferences.
· Staff developed positive relationships with people and their families which enabled them to be more responsive to their immediate needs.
