People in Southport are being invited to show their appreciation to all those in our emergency services after this week’s horrific events in Southport.
On Monday, police rushed to disarm a knife attacker after three children were killed and several others injured at a Taylor Swift dance and yoga event in the Hart Space in Southport.
Paramedics and first responders then treated the injured at the scene before rushing them to hospital for emergency care by NHS staff.
On Tuesday night 53 police officers were injured and firefighters battled to put out flames as rioters attacked local homes, cars, businesses and a mosque.
Police have since been working hard to prevent any further disorder and providing community reassurance.
People are now invited to show their appreciation for our amazing emergency services workers.
Organisers of the appeal said: “Over the next two weeks there will be a small gift collection to the emergency services, police and paramedics and fire services for helping in such distressing times for our town.
“As we know many of them not only suffered the trauma of being first responders on Monday, they then were actively abused during the riots with over 50 police officers getting hurt. Three police dogs also suffered injuries.
“For those who would like to express their appreciation and show we stand together as a community with emergency services by giving cards, kids drawings, chocolates, teas and coffees, flowers (that will last until we take it in on Saturday) and maybe some lovely dog biscuits (for the dogs hurt during the riots), other thoughtful gifts.”
