All Southport Library events have been cancelled until further notice.

The decision has been made due to the fire escape route currently being unavailable.

Events affected include the popular Rhyme Time and Construction Club sessions.

Southport Library remains open to visitors.

A Sefton Council spokesperson said: “We regret to inform you that all forthcoming Southport Library events have been cancelled until further notice.

“This includes Story & Rhyme Time and Construction Club.

“This decision has been made due to the unavailability of the fire escape route, which is essential for ensuring the safety of our patrons.

“We understand the disappointment this may cause, especially for families who regularly attend these events. However, the safety and well-being of our visitors are our utmost priority.

“Please note that Southport Library remains open to the general public during this time operating within usual opening hours.

“Rest assured, we are actively working to resolve this issue as swiftly as possible. We will keep the public updated through our website and various social media channels.

“Once the fire escape route is deemed safe and accessible, we will promptly resume our Story & Rhyme Time and Construction Club events.

“We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. If you have any further inquiries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your continued support of Southport Library.”
