Boston United 3 Southport FC 0

It was a Saturday afternoon to forget for the travelling Sandgrounders with a 3-0 defeat for Southport FC away to Boston.

The result saw Southport FC drop into the relegation zone after King’s Lynn Town won 2-1 away at Gloucester City.

Boston started on the front foot with a number of long range efforts flying just wide of Chris Renshaw’s goal.

The opening goal came in the 31st minute when Rowe headed home from close range.

Southport’s best chance of the game came in added time when Richie Bennett fired straight at the keeper when well placed.

The second half was one way traffic and Boston increased their lead in the 63rd minute through Hazel,

We were down to 10 men when David Morgan was sent off for a second yellow card in the 66th minute.

Boston rounded off a very impressive display in the 91st minute with Martin making the most of chaos in the Southport defence and slotting home.

We now have three very important home games coming up starting on Tuesday when Spennymoor are our visitors. King’s Lynn’s win in Gloucester this afternoon saw us slip into the bottom four.

Line Up: Renshaw, Thomson, Doyle, Flowers, Arthur, Morgan, Philliskirk(Russ), Burgess (Hmami), Carver, Bennett(Heath) Walton.

Unused Subs Quansah & McMillan

Attendance 1671 with 21 from Southport.
