KGV sixth form college in Southport

KGV College celebrates student success!

Students at King George V College in Southport are celebrating their successes in A Levels this year.

In a year of so much uncertainty and change, where learners spent the final two months of lessons and revision in a national lockdown, it is so wonderful to see so many KGV students achieve the highest possible grades.

A high number of subjects including, Further Maths, Philosophy, Geography, History, Art, Media, Film Studies and English saw students securing 100% pass rates and impressive numbers of high grades.

Success was not limited to A level. The college also received a 100% pass rate for BTEC Advanced Level Extended Diplomas with over 90% of these at Distinction grade or above. Vocational students can set their sights at the best universities and employment with results like these.

CEO and Principal Michelle Brabner said: “We are so proud of all our learners. The excellent A Level results reflect the hard work and dedication of KGV students and staff.  Equally, our BTEC students have excelled themselves, securing very impressive high grades.

“The class of 2020 faced real challenges and they are truly a credit to the college, their families and themselves.

“Our students have achieved such excellent results that many will now have their free choice of university including prestigious Russell Group destinations.

“We know all our leavers will go onto great things and we wish them every success.”

Ronnie Fell, Chair of Governors said: “After a year in which we have had a change in CEO Principal, an Ofsted visit and an extensive period of national lockdown, we can be very proud of our Good College status and it is wonderful to see the talent and resilience of our students recognised.

“On behalf of the governing board I would like to congratulate all students and staff, whose hard work and commitment has produced such impressive outcomes.”

The College will be fully opening in September and looks forward to welcoming returning students and meeting our new intake who we know will be part of the next chapter in the college’s success story.

Enrolment for September is now on and all students who have been offered a place at KGV should enrol online using their unique link as soon as possible.
