Today (Friday 5th December), Patrick Hurley, MP for Southport and the Northern Parishes, welcomed pupils from eleven schools across Southport to Southport Market to celebrate their entries to the MP’s 2025 Christmas Card Competition.

All participating schools shortlisted two pupils’ designs for the competition, who were invited alongside guests and representatives from the schools. The pupils were awarded a certificate by Patrick and the chance to see their image on display alongside other participants.

Two winners were announced, with Sophie Grant from Norwood Primary School winning in the Christmas on the Coast category and Charlotte Lawless from St Philip’s CofE Primary School winning in the ‘Magic of Christmas’ category.

The winners’ design will feature on the front of the MP’s Christmas Card, sent to local businesses and charities, local dignitaries, the Prime Minister and the King, showcasing the artwork of Southport’s pupils far and wide.

Patrick Hurley, MP for Southport, said:

“It was great to see so many young people get creative this Christmas, and it was lovely to see the support they were given by teachers and parents to showcase their talents.

“It was very difficult to choose a winner in these categories due to the quality of all our entrants, and I’m glad to be able to showcase their work.”

All the designs submitted to the competition will be shared from Patrick Hurley MP’s Facebook Page over the festive period, so keep an eye out for a range of colourful takes on Christmas in Southport and the Northern Parishes.
