The Remedy at Beales cafe in Southport is welcoming customers for the last time this Saturday (7th September 2024) – but a brand new venue is on the way!
Remedy has been a popular venue for shoppers popping in for a delicious coffee, a slice of cake or something tasty to eat, since they opened as part of the Beales department store on Lord Street, with seats outside in the historic Wayfarers Shopping Arcade.
But Beales department store is sadly closing its doors this Saturday, meaning Remedy at Beales now has to relocate.
Remedy already operates a popular venue at 33 Botanic Road in Churchtown Village in Southport.
Soon they’ll be able to try a new venue in addition to Churchtown.
Remedy owner Susannah Porter said: “Remedy at Beales last day of trading will be this Saturday.
“We have now picked up the keys for our new coffee shop – watch out for news on this!”
These next few days will be the final chance for shoppers to grab their last bargains at Beales department store as they host a huge closing down sale.
Susannah Porter said: “It’s sad to be leaving this location. We have loved being here on Lord Street, and as part of Wayfarers Arcade.
“We have some really loyal customers here, some of whom come to see us every day.
“We are looking forward to people coming to join us this week and on our last day this Saturday.
“It has been very busy at Beales this week with their closing down sale.
“They are selling off everything. People should go in and get some great bargains – I’ve been in.
“It’s time for new beginnings. I hope people who love Remedy come and see us in Churchtown and also in our new venue, which we are looking forward to revealing soon.”
The three-floor Beales department store on Lord Street in Southport town centre has announced an extensive closing down sale with substantial bargains for shoppers.
Hundreds of shoppers queued outside the new Beales department store when it officially opened its doors on 12th August, 2021.
The space had remained empty during the Covid pandemic when the original Beales department store, along with the Debenhams department store further along Lord Street, closed in March 2020.
But there was huge pride when a new Beales company opened a Beales department store – the firm’s first location in the north of England – on Thursday, 12th August, 2021.
The store housed several local businesses including Remedy at Beales, Baby Love, Lucy Lou’s Boutique, Plaza Cards and more.
The Beales department store building had been home to a department store for the past 135 years, with the building carrying signs saying ‘Beales, formerly Broadbents & Boothroyds’.
Lord Street has enjoyed lots of positive investment in recent months, with the ongoing transformation of The Grand; planning permission granted for The Garrick; a new climbing centre and gym opening soon; the new Saltrock shop opening this year; and more.
Building work is currently taking place to transform the former Debenhams building.
When the new-look Beales department store opened in Southport in August 2021, the first 150 shoppers were given vouchers of up to £200 each as they walked in to look around the three floors of retail, with ladies and mens fashions, furniture, electrical goods, bedroom furnishings, shoes, accessories, gifts, greetings cards, baby clothes, and much more besides.
Hundreds of people were there on the opening day, with a queue stretching along Lord Street.
