Keith Hubbard said: “What ‘A Grand Night Out’ for ‘Gig4Life’ fundraising for Cancer Research U.K. and Southport Links Rotary last night.
“With thanks to The Grand for donating the Princess Grace Suite for the event.
“A packed-out room enjoyed a fabulous evening’s entertainment delivered by host, Mighty FM’s Chris Strefford, and compere, Simon Smithies, who held it all together brilliantly.
“We enjoyed a great opening set, with fabulous harmonies from Connected Voices Choir followed by, performing the final time, a blockbusting set from ‘The JKH Band’.
“Up next were ‘The Rockin’ No Names’, who certainly rocked the place.
“Then it was time for legendary comedian, Jimmy Cricket, who received a standing ovation.
“He is a humble, lovely man, who together with his wife May, assisting with props, had the room in hysterics!
“And finally ‘I Am Groove’ what a band, performing fabulous dance classics, filling the floor and then, together with the performers on the night, producing a fantastic Johnny B Goode Finale.
“With over £1,000 raised in our Gig4Life Auction, ably presented by auctioneer Simon Smithies, the final figures, when all collated, will be available later this week.
“Gig4Life would like to thank Southport Links Rotary for their tireless efforts that they put into this joint venture, especially Rotary members Chris Summer for obtaining the Helicopter Flight for the auction and Jim McNiven for procuring the fab raffle prizes.
“All profits will be shared equally between ‘Gig4Life’ Musicians ‘ Using The Beat To Beat Cancer’ and Southport Links Rotary for their local charities.
“Finally a very ‘BIG thank you’ to all who attended and contributed to our event, you were fabulous!”
