The UK Government has announced a £75 million investment to deliver upgrades and modernise facilities in hospices across England.
Queenscourt Hospice in Southport is pleased to confirm that it has been allocated £400,000 as part of this one-off Capital Grant initiative.
A Queenscourt Hospice spokesperson said: “The funding, distributed by Hospice UK, is restricted to capital expenditure so it cannot be used on direct support for patients, but it does allow us to improve our physical environment, making upgrades to our facilities during the 2025 – 2026 financial year. It will also be used to improve efficiency by investing in digital technology during 2025 – 2026.
“We will use this funding to improve our hospice’s environment for patients and families, with the potential to create and improve our communal areas, along with greener, more energy-efficient equipment.
“This is a welcome capital-funding initiative that will support improvements to the facilities and infrastructure at our hospice, allowing us to focus our fundraising efforts on raising much-needed income to support the vital clinical work of #teamqueenscourt.
“Queenscourt receives 21% of its funding from the NHS, which means that we continue to rely heavily on the generosity of our wider community so that we can continue to provide exceptional compassionate care for our patients and their loved ones across West Lancashire, Southport and Formby.
“We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you who support our charity, whether it is through donating, volunteering or fundraising on our behalf.
“We couldn’t do what we do, without you.”
