The new Pretty Unique fashion boutique is now open on Wesley Street in Southport.

Owner Sharon Duke has chosen to open her first shop in Southport town centre after operating her business at markets in Liverpool, Widnes and North Wales, as well as online, in previous years.

She says she has been “overwhelmed” by the support from shoppers and from other independent businesses on Wesley Street, famous for its multi-coloured buildings and known locally as ‘the village in the town’.

Pretty Unique sells a variety of women’s fashion suitable in sizes 8-24 for people of all ages along with accessories such as shoes, handbags and more.

The shop is open 10am-5pm seven days a week with Sharon looking to open an aesthetics operation in the building in the next couple of weeks.

She said: “I have had some really nice customers since I’ve opened Pretty Unique in Southport!

“It’s been a really good response since I came here. It has given me a real buzz.

“Opening a shop in Southport town centre is the best thing I could have done.

“I looked at the shop unit when it became available but I just wasn’t sure whether to take it on or not.

“But I am glad I did. It has been really good – I have been really busy.

“It feels really good to have a proper shop.

“It makes a difference for shoppers being able to walk into somewhere friendly, where they can see the clothes, and try things on.

“It’s a different experience to online shopping, although I do also offer an online delivery service. I post items to London, to Essex, all over the country with a 24 hour turnaround. It’s good to be able to do both.

“I started out doing markets in Rhyl in North Wales, at Great Homer Street in Liverpool and in Widnes, and through it was time I opened my own shop!

“I stock ladies’ fashions, from sizes 8 to 24, along with things like shoes, handbags and more.

“In the next couple of weeks, I will be opening some beauty rooms in the back, where I will be providing aesthetics. I will open later in the evenings for that.

“I’ve had a really warm welcome from all the other local businesses along Wesley Street.

“Everyone on this road is so nice. There’s a real sense of community here.”
