The Southport Coaster pub in Southport town centre is inviting people to join them for a Southport Together fundraiser this Thursday (15th August 2024).

The event will take place at the pub, on Lord Street, from 1pm onwards with lots of entertainment for people to enjoy.

All money raised will go towards families affected by the tragedy at The Hart Space in Southport two weeks ago in which three young girls were killed and several children and adults were injured.

Funds will be distributed through the fundraising appeal set up by Southport-based Mighty Radio.

Several local businesses have already donated raffle prizes. Any others who would like to donate raffle prizes are invited to contact Laura Carey at the pub. The venue is also seeking a children’s face painter.

The event takes place on the opening day of the 2024 Southport Flower Show, taking place nearby, and fundraisers are inviting anyone at the show to call in to the venue afterwards.

Entry is free.

The line-up includes:

1pm-3pm – Karaoke

5pm-6pm – Steffi Lorena

6pm-7pm – Pat Masterson

7pm – Just Keith

8.30pm – 9.30pm – One Plus One

9.30pm / 9.40pm – 10.30pm – Nick Jones

Southport Coaster Deputy Manager Laura Carey said: “This Thursday we have our fundraiser going on from 1pm until late.

“We have some great singers on, a raffle with some great prizes and more so get yourselves down to support a great cause.

“All money raised is going to the families of the awful tragedy which happened two weeks ago.

“If anyone is able to donate any raffle prizes please drop them into the pub or drop us a message to collect.

“The idea for the fundraiser came from Becky Demaine, who is one of our regular singers here.

“Southport is a really safe place. We were all shocked, and heartbroken, to see what happened. We all want to do something to help in some small way.

“Southport is a very small town but it has a real sense of community.

“Everyone is pulling together, it shows what people in the town are really like.

“People are welcome to call in any time. We have lots going on throughout the day for everyone to enjoy.

“Children are welcome in the pub until 8pm, we are looking to get some entertainment organised for them to enjoy too.

“This event is all about people in Southport doing their bit to help.

“It’s taking place on the opening day of the Southport Flower Show and the town will be busy, so hopefully anyone who is at Victoria Park will head down here and join us afterwards.”

Southport Coaster is keen to raise as much money as possible for the families impacted by the terrible recent tragedy.

Laura said: “We have some great raffle prizes available, including a £30 Southport Coaster bar tab; bottles of vodka and whisky; a Harun’s kebab shop voucher; a Beauty HQ voucher; a one night’s stay at a hotel in Blackpool; and more.

“They have been donated by firms in Southport, in Wigan, in St Helens, in Blackpool, who all want to help.

“We’d love to hear from anyone else keen to get involved, and are looking forward to welcoming everyone on Thursday.”
