The owners of Kalash Divine Indian have revealed the secrets of their success as the fine quality restaurant celebrates its fourth birthday.

Kalash, at 1 Lord Street in Southport town centre, was officially opened on 16th September 2019.

Owners Ranjeet Singh and Alvino Cardozo say they endured tough challenges as the Covid pandemic and a series of lockdowns struck within six months of opening.

But they have bounced back strongly thanks to a very loyal base of customers who love going back to their favourite restaurant time and time again.

Ranjeet and Alvino say they are proud to have opened the first authentic Indian restaurant in Southport.

Their strength is through creating authentic Indian dishes, using the freshest ingredients, all prepared by an expert team of staff. Led by Head Chef Uday Seth.

Ranjeet said: “We are delighted to be celebrating four years of Kalash Divine Indian in Southport.

“We have overcome some challenges to get to where we are.

“The Covid pandemic arrived just a few months after we had opened. But we managed to emerge very strongly from lockdown.

“We are grateful to have built up some very loyal customers who stayed with us, and have been recommending what we offer to other people.

“They really motivate us to keep doing what we do.

“Word of mouth has worked very well for us, we have clearly made a very good impression with diners, as well as all the very positive reviews people have made through TripAdvisor, Google Reviews and elsewhere.

“I love people in Southport. They are really nice, very down to earth. Everyone here is so friendly.

“There is a real community here of everyone supporting each other.

“We took a chance when we opened our restaurant at the southern end of Lord Street, when so many hospitality businesses were opening up in the ‘Northern Quarter’ at the other end of the street.

“We were away from the crowd so to speak.

“To do well, it meant we had to build a strong reputation for the quality of the food and the service that we provide. We had to make this a real destination restaurant that people in Southport on one side and Birkdale on the other side, and further afield, really wanted to visit.

“We are both from Manchester but we love Southport! We are very positive about what is happening here and all the investment being made.

“Lots of things are changing for the better.

“At the southern end of Lord Street we are looking forward to seeing The Garrick redevelopment continue with the new Wetherspoon Hotel due to be built near to us too.

“On the Promenade, work is underway to create the new £73 million Marine Lake Events Centre and Light Fantastic water and light show.

“There is lots of investment happening in Southport and within the next three or four years the town is going to be a very different place with lots of new businesses and new visitors coming in.

“When we came in we thought this was a good time to come in and invest in Southport.”

Ranjeet and Alvino are very proud of the quality of the food they provide as they look to celebrate the renaissance of Indian cuisine in the North West.

The restaurant brings diners “light, nutritious, aromatic food that’s a feast to the senses, with a perfect and subtle balance to delight a gourmet’s heart and soul”.

Alvino Cardozo said: “We pride ourselves on creating the highest quality food made from the freshest and best ingredients and spices.

“From our excellent starters, through choices of vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries and main courses, to our masterfully created desserts with their delicious sweet flavours, we set the mood right and indulge you with a diversity of wonderful tastes and aromas.

“Our mission is simple – to serve the highest quality authentic Indian food, with divine flavours, cooked with passion and served with affection.

“Our Head Chef, Uday Seth, has played a huge role in our success. He has worked in some of the best restaurants in the UK.

“We have a very hard-working and dedicated team of 14 staff members here.

“They are in the kitchen every day making everything from scratch.

“We grind and roast our spices and we create our own sauces, we don’t use ready-made shop-bought sauces.

“There are no short cuts in this restaurant!

“We are always happy to accommodate our customers’ needs. We are happy to provide meals which are gluten free, or vegan.

“We enjoy offering guidance to anyone who needs it, on the best dishes to eat, or which dishes work best together.

“Because we make our food fresh, we know everything that goes into making it. When you know your product that well, it is easy to talk people through it and give them any advice they need.

“Indian food is really fragrant and really healthy, with lots of ingredients such as turmeric, garlic, ginger, that are very good for your health.

“We know that the food on offer at Kalash Divine Indian is really top quality. We know from our customers who keep coming back, and from our reviews, that people will travel here to enjoy it.”
