Birkdale Christmas Fayre is back this Sunday (27th November 2022)!
The popular annual event takes place between 10am and 6pm.
Festive-goers can enjoy watching the unveiling of the new Birkdale Village Christmas Tree and the official Christmas Lights Switch On.
There will be funfair rides, stalls from local traders, raffles, live music, choirs, mulled wine, mince pies, food traders plus lots more.
People can enjoy performances from: Rock Choir, Central Dance and Talent, Eb & Flow, Close Run Thing, The Wanderers, Kazmik, Just Before The Bingo, Old Enough To Know Better and Yooks.
The event is organised by Birkdale Civic Society and local traders.
People are being asked to be aware that the Liverpool Road section running through the centre of Birkdale Village as well as Weld Parade will be closed between 8am and 8pm this Sunday.
Local residents are being asked to make sure that they don’t park overnight on Saturday 26th November, and make sure all vehicles are moved before the road is closed. Once the road is closed event organisers will be unable to allow you to move your vehicle until the road is reopened.
There will also be an opportunity to support those in need this Christmas by dropping off all your food and gift donations for the Southport Food Bank and the Southport Salvation Army gift appeal to the lovely ladies at Sally Bee Lifestyle and Polanskys Barber Shop at the Christmas Fayre.
A Birkdale Civic Society spokesperson said: “We have some fantastic dance and musical acts performing at our village Fayre on Sunday, as well as a full funfair for the day!
“Make sure you come down to enjoy the music and entertainment, and support our local performers!
“Our Christmas Fayre on Sunday is set to be a great event for all the traders involved and a fantastic opportunity to donate towards Southport Food Bank and The Salvation Army, Southport.
“We can’t wait to see you all there to support our village. It’s independent traders, and our community. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that’s been involved in all of these tremendous achievements over the last few weeks!”
Graham Eyes Butchers in Birkdale Village will be serving up a festive BBQ outside Spar. Christmas shoppers will be able to stop for some tasty burgers and Graham Eyes’ famous home made sausages.
Petcare Of Birkdale will be hosting Southport & District RSPCA all day, outside their shop, to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
Birkdale Cheese Centre will be serving raclette.
Raclette is a round cheese which is melted and served up onto your plate, a speciality of the Alps.
