The Old Bank bar and restaurant is now open – leaving guests thoroughly impressed during the VIP opening night.
The building is one of the most imposing in Southport. Built in 1922 and Grade II Listed, the former National Westminster Bank on Lord Street boasts some huge Roman columns in the style of an old Roman temple.
It is hoping to become an equally imposing presence on the Southport nightlife scene.
Lots of us remember The Old Bank as a vibrant bar a couple of decades ago. It is great to see life returning to this magnificent venue.

Owners Alexandra Myhill and Bernie Snagg were determined to create something very new, modern, vibrant and different to anything else on the scene locally. They have done a superb job.
They have invested heavily in their venture, thanks to a £100,000 transformation and the creation of 24 new jobs.
The venue’s atmosphere will change throughout the day.
It opens at 11am each day as a fun place for families to enjoy a range of delicious pizzas and other dishes, making the most of the pizza ovens on site.
There is an extensive range of draught beers, wines, spirits and cocktails.
Later in the evenings it will become a great spot for nights out, with DJs playing on Friday and Saturday nights.
This is very much a grown-up bar. Huge attention has gone into the details, with two huge, stunning murals created by acclaimed artist Trafford Parsons: the first shows James Bond actor Sean Connery from the movie Goldfinger, the second is a playful mural of Her Majesty The Queen.

Guests can sit in comfy booths and make the most of the drinks packages on offer, great for groups of friends or family reunions.
Upstairs is a mezzanine area which will accommodate functions and events. It is the perfect spot for people watching, offering great views across this truly stunning building.
The venue is right at the heart of Lord Street. It’s position in town couldn’t be more central.
During the VIP night guests were treated to a staged ‘bank robbery’ by two very entertaining performance artists dressed in black and white striped tops and masks. Of the bank robbing kind, not the Covid kind.

The message was clear – this is a place full of surprises, whether it’s street theatre, amazing murals, vibrant decor, or an attractive food and drink menu which wants to ensure guests leave with smiles on their faces.
You can bank on it.
The Old Bank is at 253 Lord Street, Southport, PR8 1NY.
