This year’s Southport Armed Forces Day parade was sadly cancelled due to Covid restrictions, but an Armed forces Day Service was held at the Liverpool Parish Church on Saturday (26th June) attended by Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Clare Louise Carragher.
Representatives of the Military attended, plus the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, High Sheriff, Lord Mayor of Liverpool and Mayors from Sefton, Knowsley, Wirral, and St Helens.
Colonel Mark Underhill, Chief Executive of North West Reserve Forces and Cadets Association was also in attendance, supported by the Duke of Lancasters Band and Pipe Major James Axon.
The Service was conducted by Canon Crispin Palin.
The Liverpool Parish Church goes back to the 13 th Century and was bombed in World War Two. …
On Sunday there was a fly past down the River Mersey past the Pier Head.
Southport town centre Councillor Sir Ron Watson meanwhile attended a gathering of Armed Forces Veterans who had a small gathering outside The Atkinson on Lord Street on Sunday.
