Hesketh Bank in Lancashire finally has a new bar – 12 years after the last one closed!
KOPAR café and bar has opened at 8 Station Road in the village, on the site of the former Brentley’s hair & Beauty, near Booths supermarket.
The opening yesterday ended a thirsty wait for local people, after the iconic Becconsall Hotel pub closed in 2009, to be replaced by a new housing estate.
KOPAR owner Steven Lannagan, who lives in the village, was delighted with the reaction to his new venture.
He previously owned The Bottle Room and Copper & Ivy on Lord Street in Southport and is now delighted to be running his new bar.
He said: “What a success yesterday was!
“Our soft-opening went very well, thanks to the people that were invited for the incredible feedback!
“We were too busy to take photographs but we got a couple!
“We are open on Thursday from 4pm!

“Just a reminder that our rear function room is available for parties, following government guidelines about the number of people. The room seats 20 guests.
“We already have a Christening booked and a birthday party for a 13 year old and they’re having a mocktail masterclass experience and a buffet.”
The decision to open KOPAR was an easy one.
Steven Lannagan said: “There’s not one bar in the village. The Becconsall, closed in 2009 to be replaced by a new housing estate.
“I wanted to create a place where people could go and meet and just have a good time”.
The trading hours for KOPAR at the moment are:
Mon -Wed Closed
Thurs 4pm-11pm
Friday and Saturday 2pm-12am
Sunday 2pm-10pm
