Chocolatiers have been inspired by the stunning nature in Southport to create their inspired ‘Starry Night’ themed Easter eggs.

RS Fine Chocolate, which has chocolate shops in Churchtown Village and Ainsdale Village in Southport, created the incredible designs based on the area’s famous sand dunes.

The artistic chocolate eggs depict the dunes under a night sky.

They even pay tribute to the area’s legendary rare Natterjack Toads.

RS Fine Chocolate owners Robert and Jo Swinden said: “We are currently taking last orders for our special edition ‘Starry Night’ over the sand dunes Easter Eggs – celebrating our beautiful sand dunes and the nocturnal Natterjack Toads, with mini toads inside each Easter egg.”

The firm is also selling a wide variety of other specially created chocolate Easter eggs and other treats this year.

They include Mini Easter Eggs – available in Milk, White, Dark and Caramel with four little mini toads inside.

Customers can also enjoy Vegan Dark 66% Easter Eggs which are soya free, made using sunflower lecithin.

Feeling patriotic? Pick up their Union Jack brushed and flicked style Easter Eggs – filled with mini Natterjack Toads of course!

Other treats for children (or grown ups) this Easter include lollipops including Peter Rabbit lollipops.

RS Fine Chocolate celebrated opening its brand new artisan chocolate shop on Botanic Road in Churchtown Village in November last year.

Robert and Jo Swinden have already forged a superb reputation as top class chocolatiers from their existing shop in Ainsdale.

Rob and Jo Swinden said: “We are delighted to fit right into the beautiful historic Botanic Road in Churchtown.

“Some people might remember this as a former little quaint chocolate shop and we are proud to create something really special here.”

RS Fine Chocolate began as an artisan chocolatier in the heart of Ainsdale Village. Specialists in bespoke chocolate work, everything is hand crafted on-site in their ‘chocolate box’ sized shop using traditional methods of tempering, moulding and filling pralines by Chocolatier Robert Swinden.

Most recipes originate from over 30 years experience gained working alongside Master Chocolatiers from Belgium, Germany and France.

Taking this inspiration the firm has put a local twist on the recipes, such as Strawberry Fields, Everton Toffee Mint, Cheshire Honey Flower, Liverpool Gin, Maritime Salted Caramel, Marmalade Sky, Aintree Dark Caramel (Jockeys Cap!), and the Haydock Hazelnut and Cognac praline.

Signature ‘Natterjack Toad’ chocolates are available in gift boxes or loose to enjoy. The gift boxes feature beautiful illustrations of the Natterjack Toad by artist Emma Dibben.

As well as the ‘Natterjacks’ there are also the ‘Formby Asparagus’,  ‘Southport Shrimp’ and ‘Red Squirrel’ chocolates.

Everton FC fans will love their ‘Dixie’ Whisky and Ginger Chocolate, made in honour of legendary goalscorer Dixie Dean – an idea they had with the help of Mr Dean’s granddaughter, this was his favourite drink.

Robert and Jo Swinden said: “We wanted to produce artisan chocolates that also linked in our beautiful landscape, local wildlife and heritage. Something for our community to feel proud of.

“Our couverture chocolate blends are imported from Europe, including French and Belgian couvertures. As a specialist chocolate business, we work with specialist suppliers because we are confident of their commitment to fair and sustainable cocoa production – Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance approved.”
