Southport Pleasureland reopens for the start of the 2022 season this Saturday (26th March!)

The UK’s most family friendly amusement park, on Marine Drive in Southport, boasts a wide range of rides and attractions for people of all ages.

People are being encouraged to save money by booking their tickets through the Southport Pleasurerland website rather than on the gate.

There are rides there for little ones such as the Apple Coaster, Balloons, Carousel, Convoy, Ghost Train, Dumbos, Dock Funhouse and many others; and attractions for older riders such as the Waltzers, Flying Swings, Frisbee and Looping Coaster.

Located by the coast, Southport Pleasureland is the perfect day out for the whole family. There’s a fun mix of rides and amusements to suit all ages as well as beautiful landscaped spaces and a great choice of food and drink.

People can also watch out for entertainment and special events throughout the year.

The gates open at 11am and close at 5pm.

Two exciting new attractions are due to open soon. The Big Wheel Southport, a 35 metre high observation wheel with stunning views across the coast, is scheduled to open in the next few weeks. A new Viking themed adventure golf course is on track to open this summer.

Southport Pleasureland Project Manager Mari Lewis said: “We can’t wait for people to return this weekend!

“With more really sunny weather forecast this weekend, visitors are going to be able to come and have a lovely time.

“This has been a very busy few weeks for us getting everything ready, it has all been really coming together in the last few days.

“Hopefully, for everyone, things will be back to normal this year after a difficult couple of years.

“The past two years, we haven’t been able to open in March.

“Hopefully, 2022 will see everyone having the freedom to do the things they enjoy doing.

“All the rides here have been taken part, crack tested and then reassembled to ensure that they are all sound and ready for the new season.

“All of the food and beverage outlets have been stocked and prepared, new coffee machines have gone into all of them.

“We encourage everyone to buy their tickets online in advance, to save money. We do have a gate price, people can pay on the gate if they wish, but it is more expensive than tickets bought online. Non rider tickets are also available. That is one of our USPs, because other theme parks only have one ticket available, whether you ride or not.”

Southport Pleasureland is one of the biggest employers in the region, providing job opportunities for around 150 people each year.

The park offers a wide range of jobs from full-time to part-time, and can offer flexibility over shifts. There is a wide range of people who work there from college students to more mature employees, with life experience much valued.

There are lots of roles available at Southport Pleasureland throughout the year including: ride assistants; parking attendants; housekeeping; guest relations assistants; catering staff; cooks; gardeners, landscapers; and many more too.

Southport Pleasureland is always looking for a variety of other roles, from electricians, to mechanical engineers, to graphic designers and more. Even if a job isn’t advertised at the moment, it is always worth sending in your CV for consideration.

Mari Lewis said: “There are a lot of familiar faces returning to work for us, but there are also a lot of excited new staff looking forward to welcoming guests this weekend.
