A restaurant in Southport has raised thousands of pounds for a local family impacted by the recent tragedy in Southport in which three young girls tragically died and several others were severely injured.

The Lansdowne Bistro, a small independently run venue on Anchor Street in Southport town centre, held a fundraiser on Sunday (22nd September 2024).

Owners, Jamie Rae and Patrick Tyndall organised the successful event to raise money for the Taylor family.

It was a night to ‘celebrate the strength, bravery and resilience’ of two girls who were injured in the attack.

The event raised £10,000, with all of the money being donated to the costs of the girls’ ongoing recovery.

Jamie said: “We wanted to do something to help the families affected.

“Me and Patrick, and the team, are very close to the Taylor family. We’ve known them for years.

“They do a lot for charity in the restaurant so we wanted to give something back.”

Forty people, including friends and family of the girls, attended the ‘fantastic’ night.

To help the bistro reach its target, there were ‘generous’ donations of £1,000 each by David Quinn and Jeremy Canning. David was also a ‘high supporter’ on the night, helping organise and MC the raffle and auction.

Jamie said: “We are just overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone. Our regular customers, family and friends all donated.

“Our raffle prizes ended up doubling in numbers and our live auction was so popular, the raffle alone raised over £2,000.

“We shared the tickets (for the raffle) on social media and people from all over the place were buying them.”

As well as the individual generous donations, all profits from the sales from Lansdowne Bistro were donated on the night and all of the staff worked and planned the event voluntarily without pay.

Jamie said he hasn’t spoken to the girls yet but the money will aid their recovery and he is excited to see their reactions.

Kelly Bond provided live entertainment and the huge raffle and auction had a wide selection of high-quality and exciting prizes.

They included two exclusive lounge seats at Everton FC, courtesy of MJ Quinn, a framed and signed Tommy Fleetwood Glove and many vouchers and experience days.

Auction prizes included a signed Steven Gerrard football shirt, Banksy artwork and a pair of hospitality tickets with a meal at Anfield.

Jamie said: “We just want to say a massive thank you for all the help and support from everyone.

“Your contributions and efforts are truly appreciated and make a meaningful difference. Your kindness and support means the world to us.

“Together, we can achieve amazing things!”

Among the guests was Serena Silcock-Prince, the Operations Manager at Silcock Leisure Group.

She said: “The charity event at the Lansdowne was fantastic.

“It was a lovely turnout of local people, all giving their time.

“The waiting staff all gave their time for free, and the raffle and auction prizes were amazing! The top prize was a Banksy!

“The lovely Kelly Bond was there entertaining us.

“It was great to see so many local People genuinely coming together.”
