Southport BID feature by Stand Up For Southport
The popular Your Southport Stars Awards returns for 2025 and BID businesses have the opportunity to nominate themselves.
The Awards, now in their fourth year, celebrate the vital contribution of businesses in Southport town centre. The public showed their support in 2024, with over 80,000 votes registered across eleven categories.
Southport BID continues to look at ways in which to make the Awards fairer and more inclusive, and with that in mind, there will be some slight changes to the process this year.
There will be two awards in each category.
Similar to previous years, the People’s Choice Award will go to the venue that registers the most public votes.
The new Business Leaders Award will be presented to one business in each category which is judged to have had an extraordinary year over the last twelve months. This award will be chosen by a cross-sector panel from the town centre community.
Businesses are asked to provide a short supporting statement alongside their nomination to help guide the panel. This should highlight business achievements in the previous year and can include details of (but are not limited to):
- General successes
- Staff achievements
- The launch of new products/menus/events
- Community initiatives
- Growth and expansions
- Overcoming adversities
Each business nominated will be eligible for both awards but there will be no runner-up awards this year.
All businesses situated within the Southport BID boundaries are eligible to enter.
Businesses can nominate themselves in the following categories:
- National Retail (national brand stores, banks)
- Independent Retail
- Restaurant
- Café or Coffee Shop
- Pub, Bar or Club
- Entertainment Venue (tourist attractions, cinemas, events venues)
- Health and Fitness Venue (gyms, leisure facilities)
- Beauty Business (salons, barbers, beauty businesses)
- Hotel or Guest House
- Expert Services Business (accountants, solicitors, estate agents. auto-repair, estate agents)
- Public Service (transport providers, education providers, health providers)
Businesses which have opened in the previous twelve months can also enter the New Business of the Year category.
Two awards will be judged by a panel. The Innovation Award will recognise a business or development that is contributing to the progression in Southport’s economy.
The Special Recognition award will honour a business or organisation that has contributed positively to the town centre over the last twelve months.
One business will also receive the headline award of Business of the Year.
The deadline for nominations is Friday 14th March 2025.
The awards night will be held at The Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Tuesday 13th May 2025. Invitations will be sent out to the businesses once nominations are in.
