The search has begun for someone with ambition and imagination to drive forward the continued regeneration of Southport.
Sefton Council is advertising for a Programme Manager for Southport Town Deal.
It follows the Government awarding £38.5mllion in Town Deal funding to the bustling coastal resort last year.
The funding will support key projects including the creation of a brand new Marine Lake Events Centre and a new Enterprise Arcade on Eastbank Street.
Town Deal money has already contributed to the Southport BID initiative to create a ‘boulevard of light’ with 300,000 lights along Lord Street, and the £1.4million transformation of Southport Market into a thriving new food, drink and events venue.
Sefton Council now wants to appoint a Programme Manager later this month to lead the delivery of a range of projects set out within Southport’s Town Investment Plan (TIP) using a mix of public and private funding to stimulate new regeneration and economic recovery activity within Southport.
The local authority is the managing body for drawing down this funding and ensuring the projects are delivered in accordance with the TIP and agreed Town Deal Head of Terms.
Stage 2 of the Town Deal process requires the development of specified project business cases, through technical support, to draw down specific funding for schemes.
The Southport Town Deal Programme Manager will be responsible for leading and driving that process, ensuring delivery of the plan, reporting to the Town Deal Board, Sefton Council and Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC).
Sefton Council is also continuing to explore other funding sources for Southport’s regeneration. The new Southport Town Deal Programme Manager will be required to manage any emerging related funding streams approved for Southport.
In its job advert, the local authority says: “Over the last year Sefton has secured Town Deal funding for Southport and it has an expanding and ambitious programme of further activity and development for which it is seeking support.
“This includes ensuring benefits from the programme accrue to the wider community, that social value maximised, that climate change ambitions form part of how and what we deliver, that health and wellbeing form an integral part of what we do and that Sefton’s digital advantages are optimised for all residents, businesses and visitors to the borough.
“Sefton wishes to recruit a Southport Town Deal Programme Manager to lead the Programme Management function for Southport Town Deal – a £37.5m programme to deliver a range of Town Investment Plan projects that will help stimulate economic recovery and new regeneration activity across Southport.”
The closing date is Tuesday, 22nd February 2022, at 11.59pm.
The salary is Grade M (£46,845) pay award pending.
