An established printing and embroidery firm is gaining a worldwide reputation for providing bespoke uniforms for staff working on luxury yachts in Monaco, ski chalets in Switzerland and counter-terrorism police officers in London.

Westcoast Workwear and Embroidery, in Southport, is now determined to raise its profile further with customers closer to home.

The UK’s leading independent workwear and uniform provider has over 25 years of experience in bespoke embroidery and garment printing.

The business operates a thriving, modern factory on Tulketh Street in Southport town centre which can print or embroider up to 1,250 products a day.

Major clients include Tesco, the NHS, Land Rover, PADI and Age UK, with free delivery on all orders over £250. The firm boasts customers throughout the world.

Westcoast Workwear and Embroidery is also proud to supply goods for local clients including schools, small firms and sports teams, with no restrictions on minimum orders – unlike many other printing firms.

The business was established in Formby in 1995 before moving to Southport in 2014.

It was bought two years ago by ambitious owner Tom Mills, 34, who wants to grow the company and employ more local people.

Tom said: “Not many people in this area know that we are here! We are very keen to change that.

“I want to get the word out about who we are and what we do. We would love to work with more local customers.

“We produce a vast range of branded workwear and uniforms. All our printing and embroidery is done in our Southport factory.

“We also offer high level PPE – flame and heat resistant clothing, for various organisations.

“We are the biggest in this area at doing what we do.

“I want this to be the place where everyone comes for their printing and embroidery needs.

“We are tucked away on our site, but we benefit from being in a very central location right in the middle of Southport town centre.

“I have an ambition to build this company and to recruit more people from the local area

“We produce uniforms for staff working on super yachts in Monaco; in ski chalets in Switzerland; for people working in the Hebrides; the OSU counter terrorism team in the Met Police in London; lots of NHS clients including Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust and Merseycare; local councils all over the UK.

“We try to work within a 10 day turnaround for orders, although most of our orders are completed within three or four days.

“We are very competitive with our pricing, we give our customers great value for money.”

Westcoast Workwear and Embroidery provides a huge range of products and services, including: t-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, leisurewear, shirts, hoodies, jackets, fleeces, headwear, bags, accessories and more.

Orders are completed for corporate and hospitality clients, schools, sports teams, and others.

The company provides a range of workwear and PPE, with Covid-19 supplies including face masks and covers, eyewear, disinfectant wipes and gloves, and garments.

Tom Mills said: “As a company we are getting out to more and more networking events and other opportunities to get ourselves better known in the area.

“We love to get involved in the local community, whether it’s sponsoring a kids football team, or supporting other community events.

“We want to work with more local companies. We send orders all around the world, but it would be great to be able to take deliveries round the corner and get to know people in this area.

“We want to build on what we have got and take this company to the next level.

“In the last couple of years I have invested a lot in improving our equipment, our infrastructure, our IT and our personnel.

“When we are busy, we can create 1,250 garments in a day. It is a really efficient operation.

“The printing side accounted for just 3% of our orders when I took over. That has now grown to 20% as more people are aware of what we can do.

“We work with Greenbank High School and other local schools, fulfilling orders for leavers’ hoodies and other goods.

“We enjoy working with local junior and adult football teams and sports teams too.

“We are pushing to the £1 million turnover within the next 12-18 months, if we do that it will create jobs and opportunities for more local people. All of our staff live in the local area”

Tom has a rich background in the printing industry, and knew Westcoast well from working with the firm in the past. When the opportunity came up for him to lead the company he leapt at the chance.

He said: “I took a massive risk in buying this company. But it was very much a risk worth taking.

“I believe that it will work, and indeed it is working very well.

“Southport is a great place to be based. The town became a little run down a few years ago, but I think it has now turned a corner.

“There are lots of exciting plans coming to fruition, lots of planning applications going in.

“Hopefully within the next couple of years Southport will be a really thriving place again.”

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100 certain. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

  5. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you’ve done a amazing job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Chrome. Exceptional Blog!

I’ve been browsing on-line more than 3 hours as of late, but I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the internet shall be much more helpful than ever before.
