Wayfarers Arcade in Southport is inviting people to enjoy a free Historic Fashion Event this April.

It will take place at the arcade, on Lord Street, from Tuesday, 4th April 2023 until Sunday, 23rd April as part of the landmark’s 125th anniversary celebrations.

The display is being created by brilliant local fashion designer Mark Lyon-Taylor.

A Wayfarers Arcade spokesperson said: “To celebrate Wayfarers Arcades 125th anniversary this year, we have a spectacular exhibition to bring you this April.

“Talented local fashion designer Mark Lyon-Taylor is kicking off the celebrations by designing and making a stunning and exclusive collection of vintage fashion.

“Starting in 1898, the year the shopping arcade opened, the exhibition illustrates the changing face of each decade of fashion right up to the present day and is a must-see event.

“Previously, many hundreds of people flocked to see the last fashion exhibition in Wayfarers when Mark exhibited a stunning, exact replica of Princess Diana’s iconic wedding dress that he had made, taking him many months.

“The Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Clare Louise Carragher will open the exhibition at 11am on Tuesday 4th April.

“The exhibition runs until Sunday 23rd April and is free to enter.”
