Wayfarers Arcade in Southport will unveil a special fashion exhibition this summer to celebrate The Queen’s 70-year Platinum Jubilee

Historic Wayfarers Arcade in Southport will unveil a special fashion exhibition this summer to celebrate The Queen’s 70-year Platinum Jubilee.

People will be able to enjoy the free display from 27 May until 12 June.

The beautiful Grade II Listed shopping arcade, on Lord Street in Southport town centre, wowed visitors when it presented an exhibition of wedding dresses to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

The special event this summer will show garments and artefacts through the 70 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II along with the stories of the people who donated them, why the outfit was bought and for what occasion etc.

A Wayfarers Arcade spokesperson said: “If you have an outfit or artefacts from the last 70 years you would like to have displayed in the exhibition then Wayfarers want to hear from you!

“We are particularly looking for interesting garments going back through the seven decades of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

“This is your opportunity to be part of Southport’s Jubilee celebrations.

“If you have a dress or garments from the past 70 years you would like to be considered for this exhibition, please email: margaret@mtmarketing.net with details, and a photograph if possible, of the garment or garments you would like us to exhibit.”
