Do you remember when Vulcan cars were built in Southport?
You can learn more about one of Southport’s most famous products with a new series of ‘Southport Snapshots’ talks starting this September, online via Zoom.
The Vulcan talk is very timely, with the former Vulcan factory on Rufford Road / Balmoral Road in Crossens having only just been demolished.
Southport Snapshots: Local History with Dr Tom Preston talks are held on Monday from 14 September until 02 November, between 10.30am and 11.10am.
The first ‘taster’ session will take place on Monday, 14 September, with further talks £3 per session on 21 September, 28 September, 05 October, 12 October, 19 October, 26 October and 02 November.
A spokesperson for The Atkinson in Southport said: “Southport Snapshots, the series of popular local history sessions continues, this time, via online workshops using the free video communications platform Zoom.
“We will be looking at aspects of Southport’s history, including fishermen’s cottages, Little Ireland, Vulcan Cars, and Hesketh Park Aerodrome, amongst others.
“To take part in the Zoom meeting you will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet, an email address and an internet connection.
“Dr Tom Preston is delivering Southport Snapshots online, direct to participants on behalf of The Atkinson.”
Participants’ email addresses will be shared securely with Dr Tom Preston for him to facilitate the Zoom meeting.
Joining a Zoom meeting is quick and easy. Before each workshop, you will receive an email invitation to join a Zoom meeting.
On the morning of the workshop, open your email invitation and click the ‘join Zoom meeting’ link. You will then be prompted to either ‘download & run Zoom’ or ‘launch from your browser’. If the host has not yet started the meeting, a message will appear and you will be ‘let in’ when the host starts the meeting. If the host has already started the meeting you will automatically join the group. You are not required to have/turn on your own video and audio, unless you wish to do so.
The Atkinson is unable to offer technical support to participants.

Also, thanks for allowing for me to comment!
You really make it appear so easy with your
presentation however I to find this topic to be really something
which I believe I might by no means understand. It kind
of feels too complicated and very vast for me. I am looking forward to your next publish, I will try to get the cling of it!
