Southport is blessed with some beautiful public and community space.

The volunteers who run baby groups, Sea Scouts, ‘Friends of’ groups, community libraries and more, are people like you! People who wanted to give back to their community and make their part of the world a better place.

Again, with the help of Stand up for Southport, Volunteer Centre Sefton are shining a light on the power of volunteering. Whether it’s an hour a week or a few days a year, your time matters.

Cornerstone Library Trustee

Cornerstone Library in Churchtown is seeking a Trustee/Secretary to join their Board. As Secretary, you’ll support governance, take minutes at monthly meetings, and manage key communications. Skills in IT, business, legal, or event planning are a plus. Help shape this essential library’s future. Find out more today.

Garden Volunteer Hesketh Park

If you love being outside and getting your hands dirty, then volunteer to help Hesketh Park look its best. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the growing process from seed sowing to planting out as well as take part in general maintenance tasks.

 5th Formby Scout Group

The 5th Formby Scout Group, based at Formby United Reformed Church, is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help run their three vibrant sections:

  • Beavers (ages 6–8) – Monday evenings
  • Cubs (ages 8–10½) – Tuesday evenings
  • Scouts (ages 10½–14) – Friday evenings

Whether you’re a seasoned camper or just keen to give back, there’s a place for you. From showing a young person how to boil an egg to helping them pitch a tent, your time helps build confidence, skills, and lifelong memories.

No special experience needed—just a sense of fun and a willingness to get involved. It’s a rewarding way to make a real difference in the lives of local young people.

Special Volunteers’ Week taster session with Friends of Rotten Row

Join Volunteer Centre Sefton for a one-off special Volunteers’ Week taster session with Friends of Rotten Row. Taking place on Thursday 5 June, from 10 am – 3 pm, you can give volunteering a go without giving any commitment. You can join us for garden maintenance for the whole day or for a couple of hours, it is up to you. Places are limited, so please sign up here.
