A team from United Legal Assistance in Southport climbed Snowdon to raise money for Liverpool Women’s NICU.
Snowdon, or Yr Wyddfain Welsh, is a mountain in Snowdonia in North Wales.
With an elevation of 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Wales, and the highest in the British Isles south of the Scottish Highlands.
It was a tough challenge for the United Legal Assistance team but they were determined to raise as much money as they could for Liverpool Women’s NICU in support of their colleague Carl Sutcliffe and baby Max.
So far over £4,200 has been raised through the appeal.
A United Legal Assistance spokesperson said:
“Ten of our incredible team took on the challenge of climbing Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, to raise money for Liverpool Women’s NICU in support of the very personal journey our colleague Carl Sutcliffe and baby Max and their family have been on this year.
“It was an amazing effort from everyone involved, with every step taken for a truly fantastic cause.
“Alongside raising vital funds, the team also helped raise awareness of the incredible work carried out by Andy’s Man Club and Her Space, supporting mental health and wellbeing.
“We’d like to thank everyone who climbed, donated and cheered the team on. You should all be incredibly proud! ”
The fundraiser was set up by Mae Addison, the sister of Carl’s wife, Amy.
Mae and her sister, Eve, ran the AJ Bell Great Manchester 10k for Liverpool Women’s NICU unit in May.
She said: “Back in December, my sister Amy was taken into hospital, and on the 8th January, my nephew Max was born at just 25 weeks, weighing only 970 grams.
“From that moment on, the team at Liverpool Women’s have been nothing short of incredible. “The level of care, attention, and dedication they show every single day is something you don’t truly understand unless you experience it.
“They haven’t just cared for Max, they’ve supported my whole family, especially my sister, who has spent every minute possible by his bedside. Through every high and low, they’ve been there, constantly reassuring her, keeping her updated, and showing so much compassion. We are so grateful for the care he’s given 24/7.
“It’s more than just medical care, it’s the emotional support, the patience, and the kindness that make such a difference during such a difficult time.
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to every single person who took the time to read Max’s story, donate, share the fundraiser, or simply send love and support. It honestly means more than you’ll ever know.”
